Aftercare Tattoo

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR NEW TATTOO

After your tattoo session, I will wrap your fresh ink in cling wrap to protect it until you get home. Please follow the instructions below carefully to ensure the best possible healing for your tattoo.

FIRST WASH:

Leave the cling wrap on for at least an hour but no more than 4 hours. Once you remove the plastic from your tattoo, step into the shower and gently wash your tattoo with a natural, UNSCENTED antibacterial soap (avoid using bar soap as it's more prone to cross-contamination).

It's crucial to cleanse away any excess ointment, dried blood, and lymphatic fluid. During the last minute of your wash, rinse your tattoo under cold water for one minute to close your skin's pores. Pat it dry with a paper towel. Do not apply cream until day 2. You may wrap your tattoo for the first 1 night while you sleep to prevent it from sticking to your sheets.

EVERY SUBSEQUENT WASH:

Using warm (not hot) water and your antibacterial soap, gently massage your tattoo and cleanse away any excess ointment, dried blood, and lymphatic fluid. In the final minute of your wash, rinse your tattoo under cold water for one minute to close your skin's pores. Pat it dry with a paper towel.

There are various aftercare cream brands recommended by different artists. I suggest organic shea butter.

After thoroughly washing your hands and drying them with a paper towel, evenly apply a THIN layer of aftercare cream to your tattoo, giving it a slightly shiny appearance, but not overly wet. Avoid applying an excessive amount of cream—less is more.

For the next 2 weeks, cleanse your tattoo 3-4 times a day and apply aftercare cream.
